AIDA Crossover Evaluation

It is possible to enrol on an AIDA course coming from another freediving training agency (such as PADI, SSI, Apnea Academy, PFI etc). Firstly, the standard of the freediver needs to be assessed to ensure they are suitable for the next level course they wish to join. The AIDA crossover evaluation allows the standard of the freediver to be established, both for the in water skills and the theory knowledge, and also allows the freediver a chance to refresh their skills prior to starting the course. The crossover evaluation takes at least one full day and involves all course completion skills outlined on the previous level to which they wish to enrol. Primarily the following:
  • Pool Assessment: Static (STA) & Dynamic (DYN), Rescue, Safety, Technique
  • Open Water Assessment: Constant Weight (CWT), Rescue, Safety, Technique
  • Written Exam Assessment: All levels previous with a 75% pass rate
For example, a student wishing to enrol on the AIDA3 course needs to (among other things on the course completion form) complete a Constant Weight (CWT) dive to 20m, a rescue from 10m, a Static (STA) of at least 2:00 min, a Dynamic (DYN) of at least 40m and the AIDA2 written exam with a grade of 75% or above.
